Brooklyn Friends School built a new 45,000 s.f. facility within Brooklyn’s Metrotech campus. Spread across three floors, the challenge was to maintain the identity of a small, close-knit academic community. The lighting design served this concept by using a limited vocabulary of simple, modern, geometric shapes to connect the disparate spaces and reflect the urban nature of the building envelope. A dot/dash pattern of recessed fixtures mark room entries and display walls in the corridors. Lighting was provided for a broad range of academic spaces such as a multi-purpose café, gymnasium, arts studios and traditional classroom settings.
