New York, NY | Beyer Blinder Belle
This renovation of a 121-year-old church focused on the chapel/multipurpose space, religious school lobby and classrooms, common areas and administrative spaces to accommodate a growing congregation and use of the space by outside groups. Lighting was brought up to modern standards of illumination and sustainability with aesthetics relating to the main worship space. Continuous LED uplighting mounted to the wooden truss illuminates the ceiling, and custom designed chandeliers and ceiling fixtures provide ambient lighting and visual interest. Track lighting serves as performance or stage lighting. The chapel is equipped with a simple dimming preset system to accommodate the variety of events that occur in the space.
